Carol grew up in Racine, Wisconsin where she was enriched by
the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Johnsons’ Wax and Spring Green.
She went on to Madison to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dance
and Environmental Psychology from the University of Wisconsin.
As a dancer, she knew the importance of light in sculpting form and
moved to New York City to pursue her Masters degree in Lighting Design.

As lighting assistant for Jules Fisher & Paul Marantz in New York City,
she worked on large architectural projects including the Grand Central Terminal Renovation,
the Seattle Art Museum, and the National Gallery of London.
She took her professional experience to Seattle where she founded her own firm in 1997. 

With the opening of dePelecyn studio, Carol was hired by glass artist, Dale Chihuly,
as lighting consultant for his international glass installations.
After five years of specializing in lighting glass art in architecture,
she expanded her practice to work on larger projects such as private residences,
public art installations, and corporate environments.
She now has over twenty years of experience in lighting design
and is committed to conscientious placement of lights using energy efficient light sources.

Carol has received numerous awards for her lighting design and creativity
including the ‘Americans for the Arts Award’, the ‘International Illumination Award of Merit’,
and the ‘Illuminating Engineering Society Award’. She guest lectures in the Design Department at
Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.

jessica trundy

Jessica Trundy joined dePelecyn studio in the summer of 2010. She comes from a
theatrical lighting background and contributes a passion for revealing the drama in architecture;
a deep knowledge of the mechanics and behavior of light;
and a strong understanding of how light affects a person’s mood and perception.

Jessica holds an MFA in Lighting Design from the University of Washington
and upon graduation co-founded Seattle’s Washington Ensemble Theatre.
Her lighting designs have been seen at ACT Theatre, On the Boards,
Seattle Repertory Theatre, and Book-it Repertory Theatre, among others. 

She was a finalist for the NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Designers,
has been nominated for Theatre Puget Sound’s Gregory Awards,
and with dePelecyn studio has won the IES “Award of Merit” for multiple projects.

In her free time Jessica loves to travel, backpack, and run long distances.
